Eye to Eye is our annual family-friendly fundraising walk to show appreciation for Moorfields and raise funds for life-changing eye research and innovation. It is a day full of fun with live music, activities and community! The next one will be Sunday 28 June 2026.

Eye to Eye welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, offering supporters a choice of three routes at different distances - you choose your challenge!

  • The 1 mile walk route goes through the historic streets surrounding Moorfields Eye Hospital.
  • The 5 mile and half marathon routes passes the site of our new centre for advancing eye health in King’s Cross, Camden. Participants get to see the exciting future home of Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology due to open in 2027!

Watch our Eye to Eye 2025 summary:

The walk starts and ends at our event village, located outside our Children’s Eye Centre on Peerless Street.

Here, supporters enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits, generously provided by Starbucks, while soaking up the lively atmosphere. The event village features live music from a band, a fun-filled children’s activity corner, and a range of engaging stalls to explore.

We always make sure the events village is buzzing with energy and excitement. Last year, The Gym Group kicked things off with an energising group warm-up, getting everyone stretched, motivated, and in high spirits before the walk began.

We also hosted a raffle with fantastic prizes generously donated by our sponsors, including Dishoom, Blind Beauty, Fruitful Office (UK), Tunnock’s, Lina Stores, LDN PHYSIO, Love Corn, and Sticks’n’Sushi.

As walkers make their way along the scenic route, checkpoints offer opportunities to hydrate and receive a boost of encouragement.

Our cheer squad made of staff and volunteers waits at the finish line to celebrate every participant completing their epic walk for Moorfields.

Each participant proudly receives a commemorative medal in recognition of their dedication and achievement.

How your fundraising will make a difference

We ask all adult walkers to fundraise a minimum of £100, although anything you can raise makes a difference.

Our fundraising team will be here to support you every step of the way to help you achieve your target. Don’t want to fundraise but still want to take part? You can choose to self-fund when registering.

£100

could support a PhD student such as Mahtab Farahbakhsh who used her research to develop fun, engaging and accurate eye tests for children, helping to improve our understanding of how vision develops.

£250

could support patient services such as our pioneering eye clinic liaison officers (ECLOs), offering comprehensive emotional, psychological and practical support to those when they need it the most.

£1000

could support a Career Development Award such as one recently given to Dr Davide Zecchin, exploring the mechanisms underlying uveal melanoma that could help identify new therapeutic targets and treatment strategies.
