I wanted to give back to Moorfields as a way of saying thank you for the care I’ve received. My favourite part of volunteering is being able to assist patients either with information about the charity or directing them to other parts of the hospital. It’s a very worthy cause - funding eye care research is very important.

Volunteering with us
There are two ways you can get involved with volunteering at Moorfields.
- Charity engagement volunteering
- Event volunteering
Become a charity engagement volunteer:
As a charity engagement volunteer, you’ll be interacting with patients, their families and hospital staff to answer questions and spread the word about the work we do.
Our volunteers work from our charity hub at Moorfields Eye Hospital City Road site Monday to Friday, between 10am-12pm or 2-4pm.
As a charity engagement volunteer, you’ll be:
- Helping in our charity hub, City Road
- Interacting with our visitors to raise awareness of our charity
- Helping to promote any campaigns or activities we run from the charity hub such as our Christmas raffle or promotion of Eye to Eye
- Informing patients, supporters and staff about the amazing work we do
- Taking donations

Please note that our volunteer programme currently takes place on site at Moorfields Eye Hospital, City Road, London EC1V 2PV. We do not have volunteering opportunities outside of this site, so please do only apply if you are able to easily commute into east London.
Become an event volunteer:
Come and help us on our fundraising event days such as Eye to Eye to help us make some noise and support our fabulous event participants.
Its always a fun day and you’ll get to hang out with our friendly community!
Volunteering is the perfect opportunity to get involved with the fantastic work we do, and to have a direct impact on how much we raise and the support we can offer to Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.
Our charity engagement volunteers are so wonderful to give their time to really engage with patients, visitors and staff at Moorfields Eye Hospital. They bring so much to our charity and we love having them on board!
