The recent coronavirus outbreak can feel quite unsettling, especially if you have had your own fundraising efforts put on hold or cancelled. So we’ve put together some virtual fundraising ideas to help you combat isolation and loneliness whilst still doing your bit for #TeamMoorfields!

Large events aren’t going ahead at the moment, but there still are loads of fun and exciting ways to support us during this difficult time!

Missing the fundraising challenges you’d normally do over the summer? Show lockdown who’s boss and create your own!

If your fundraising plans have been postponed or cancelled or you want to step up and support the NHS during this time, we’ve put together a selection of easy fundraising ideas. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Some can be done from the comfort of your own home, while others will allow you to get some fresh air whilst keeping yourself safe, and all of them will raise vital funds that support staff and patients at Moorfields through and beyond this crisis.

The 2.6 challenge

With the London Marathon cancelled this year, none of us will be running 26 miles. But why not take on the 2.6 challenge instead?

An old man with a beard lifts a weight and says "prove to the youngsters you've still got it"

To take part, simply think of on an activity or challenge of your choice - it could be anything you like, as long as it contains the numbers 2 and 6.

From 2.6 minutes of juggling to 26 pancake flips, the opportunities are endless. What will you choose to do?

Virtual Quizzes

When it comes to the weekend there’s not much to do in lockdown, but remote quizzes have been providing us with ample entertainment. Why not get all your friends and family together one evening and host a charity quiz night?

Moorfields bake off

Why not use your free time to improve your baking skills? Then share your creations (or simply eat cake!) with friends and family over a video call, and donate the money you would usually spend at a cafe to Moorfields.

Challenge your friends to a videogame marathon - how long do you think you can play for? Set a target and get those thumbs to work for a good cause.

Donate your commute

Many of us are working from home these days. If you’re saving money on your daily commute to work, why not get your colleagues on board and donate some of that money to support Moorfields?

Keeping in touch

Let our events team know if you’re thinking of organising your own fundraiser for us. We’d love to support you in any way we can, whether that’s by sending over fundraising packs or sharing your story on our social media channels.

You can reach us at moorfields.eyecharity@nhs.net or on 020 7566 2565, or drop us a line on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! We love seeing your exploits on social media, so don’t forget to tag us and #TeamMoorfields!
