On Saturday 22 March, at an event sponsored by Moorfields Eye Charity, ophthalmic vision science (OVS), technicians from across Moorfields gathered at Senate House in central London for the 2025 OVS technicians annual conference.

OVS technicians play a crucial role at Moorfields. The group includes staff who are responsible for enabling timely diagnosis and treatment for patients with eye conditions through ophthalmic imaging such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Ultrawide Imaging (OPTOS), Ultrasound, and Slit Lamp Photography.

The theme of the conference was Train, Retain and Reform’. The aim of the event was to share insights on the education and development opportunities at Moorfields, to provide hands-on training sessions and to give staff a chance to connect with colleagues, share ideas and learn from each other.

Over 100 OVS technicians attended the conference from across all Moorfields sites.

Over the day, staff attended inspiring talks from colleagues who shared their career journeys, learnt about the different training and career development pathways available and attended practical training workshops.

Moorfields Eye Charity was pleased to sponsor the event and is proud to support staff who play a vital role in providing excellent patient care at Moorfields.
