Yvonne takes on the Thames Path Challenge for Moorfields
28 July 2021
Yvonne joined Moorfields in 2020 as events and conference manager. She wanted to take on a new challenge in 2021, and to achieve something positive.
She signed up to take on the Thames Path Challenge on 11 September 2021- an epic 100km walk that took Yvonne past some of the most beautiful views and villages along the UK’s most famous river. She was dedicated to her training and regularly updated her Just Giving page with her walks and some wonderful images.
Working for Moorfields, Yvonne understands first hand how Moorfields changes the lives of people with sight loss. This is why she chose to fundraise for Moorfields Eye Charity.
By accident rather than design, I have lived close to the Thames for much of my life - growing up in Kingston Upon Thames, at University in Reading, early adult life near Windsor and Maidenhead and now close to Kingston again. Over the years I have walked various stretches of the river. I have enjoyed drinking by it in Putney, in Henley on Thames, and many places in between!
My dad’s life has been intimately connected with the Thames through his lifelong involvement with the Sea Cadets. What better way to connect all those experiences than to complete the challenge to walk the 100km from Putney to Henley!

Walking 100km is a huge challenge and we want to thank Yvonne for taking on the Thames Path Challenge! She raised an incredible £982 that will help us to continue to support Moorfields Eye Hospital and it’s patients.
