My Eye to Eye is our annual fabulous fundraiser for Moorfields and this year, we went virtual! On 28 March 2021, our supporters ran, rode or walked to make a difference and help create a future without sight loss. Thank you so much to everyone who took part.

Covid restrictions meant things had to be done a little differently this year and fundraisers had to start from their own doorsteps. My Eye to Eye is in its sixth year and is normally held in London, but that didn’t stop over 200 supporters taking part all over the UK and showing their appreciation for Moorfields. Some walked with their household, some ran solo and others with their canine companion.

Although the 28 March was a blustery day, most importantly it stayed dry. Our supporters headed out in their exclusive yellow t-shirts on scenic springtime routes through forests, parks and along coastlines. Once they completed their journeys, fundraisers sent us pictures of their completed route and we sent out their well-deserved medals.

Fundraisers set up Just Giving pages as an easy way for their friends and family to sponsor them. They did an incredible job and they raised over £40,000!

Vision is so important, to all of us, it gives us the ability to see everything - from watching TV & films, reading books and studying, to driving, exercising, to seeing beautiful sunsets, and the faces of our loved ones. Sight is something the importance of which can, truly, never be understated.

And that’s why I chose Moorfields Eye Charity’s My Eye to Eye walk, to help raise money that will find important research into life-altering, and potentially sight-stealing conditions such as glaucoma and keratoconus. In the future I hope to return to university to study & become an optometrist, so I can play an even more active role in helping people continue to see the faces of their loved ones & help ensure that their vision lasts a lifetime.
