Eye to Eye 2024 was extra special as we celebrated our tenth anniversary! Our annual fundraising walk saw participants join together to march through the vibrant streets of London, all in support of the future of eye care.

Patients, along with their friends and family, as well as researchers and other Moorfields staff, enthusiastically participated in the event.

Their collective efforts were impressive, resulting in over £130,000 raised!

This success contributes to an even more remarkable achievement: over the past decade, Eye to Eye has raised more than £1 million in total.

With over 5,000 walkers.

For the first time ever, we held our walk in June instead of March, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect!

The sun shone brightly as over 600 enthusiastic walkers arrived on the morning of Sunday 23 June, ready to take on the challenge.

Ready, set, go!

What was new for 2024?

  • A summer date, Sunday 23 June—bringing us lighter, brighter, and sunnier weather.
  • A festive street party at our start and end points.
  • A new local 1-mile route option.
  • Limited edition 10-year anniversary t-shirts and medals.
  • A route through Central London that included iconic landmarks like our old friend, the London Eye.
  • Companion-guided waves, where participants could walk with a volunteer.
  • Solo walker waves for those who prefer to go at their own pace.
  • A dedicated activity area for children

The 5 and 15-mile routes took participants past some of London’s most famous landmarks, including the London Eye, Big Ben, St Paul’s, and along the scenic River Thames.

The 1-mile route explored the local area and was led by our very own charity CEO, Robert Dufton.

As part of our 10-year celebrations, we threw a lively street party near our City Road hospital, serving as both the start and finish points.

Our friends from Starbucks were on hand with free teas, coffees, and biscuits to fuel our eager walkers.

The party atmosphere was in full swing with live music from the Archway Big Band and the Corsican Brass Band, adding to the festivities.

I wanted to fundraise for Moorfields, who have really helped me. I was surrounded by a lot of anxiety when I was diagnosed with uveitis. I’d like to give back to a place that has provided me with security and comfort in an isolating situation.

My Eye to Eye

Over the same weekend, we also held My Eye to Eye, allowing supporters to run, ride, or walk their chosen distance from their own doorsteps between 22-23 June.

Whether in the heart of London or in the peaceful countryside, our amazing supporters were out in force.
