Digital Transformation Grant Programme and Symposium Event Funding
Closed
Our Digital Transformation Grant Programme provides applicants with the funding to test new ideas or to drive progress towards impact in digital transformation using artificial intelligence, digital medicine, big data, and / or oculomics
The aims of the Digital Transformation grant programme include but are not limited to:
- Go from ‘code to clinic’: taking AI systems and implementing them as useable products so that we can detect diseases faster, earlier, more accurately and track progression.
- Transform patient pathways: Digitally transforming services and shifting care from hospital to community.
- Develop screening in underserved areas to bring care closer to people’s homes.
- Offer faster, more accurate diagnosis, as well as personalised care and treatment plans.
- Advance our understanding and treatment of eye disease: exploring disease biology, developing new therapies, and expanding research in oculomics to benefit patients with systemic conditions like diabetes, dementia and cardiovascular disease.
- Make critical cost savings for the NHS.
- Attract industry investment in research and clinical technologies.
- Build capacity in the field and attract global talent.
- Increase safety and governance of the use of AI in healthcare.
The Digital Transformation grant programme is comprised of two grant schemes, the pilot award and an accelerator grant. We encourage applicants to select the scheme that is most suitable for the stage of project that they are proposing rather than the financial offering of the scheme.
These schemes are made possible through the support of the Moorfields Eye Charity Giving Club.

Digital Transformation Symposium
As part of the Digital Transformation programme, Moorfields Eye Charity is committed to funding a symposium to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration on digital transformation – bringing together talent from across the hospital, institute, and external organisations. We hope this event will:
- Strengthen links between Moorfields and UCL IoO groups working in these areas.
- Attract external engagement (keynote speakers, emerging leaders, potential collaborators).
- Showcase innovation for our Giving Club members through a dedicated ‘meet the experts’ session.
We invite a single symposium proposal coordinated by a representative organising committee drawn from across the hospital and institute.
