Pete posing for a photo on his racing bank on a rainy day.

Pete worked at Moorfields Eye Hospital for seven years and knows first-hand what an amazing job the staff do in providing world class care and research.

Unfortunately, the hugely popular cycling festival, RideLondon 2020 was cancelled due to coronavirus. However this didn’t stop Pete, and he decided to do the course on his own to raise funds for Moorfields.

Pete cycled an incredible 100 miles in August, a route that took him from the south Devon coast, through Dartmoor and up to Ilfracombe. He chose the route based on the stunning views that would reward me along the way. Dartmoor, Exmoor and the North Devon coast are among the most picturesque places in England.

I was lucky enough to work at Moorfields Eye Hospital between 2009 and 2016. I learned so much and I know first hand what an amazing job the staff do. This ride will took me back to my time living and cycling in London and raise some money for such an important cause.

Charitable support has played a crucial role in supporting Moorfields since it opened in 1805. Today charitable, philanthropic and voluntary support still helps Moorfields provide a world leading service.

Moorfields Eye Charity supports the incredible and pioneering work of Moorfields Eye Hospital and its research partner, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. By supporting innovative research, education and care at these two institutions, we make a difference to the lives of patients at the hospital and people with sight loss around the world.

Pete managed to raise an incredible £700 for Moorfields. Thank you so much to Pete and to all those who have generously donated.
