We’re proud to announce our very first impact report, showing just how much the team at Moorfields Eye Charity have achieved over the last year and the difference your support and investments have made to the early detection and treatment of sight loss.
We’ve awarded 101 grants worth a total of £2.78m to support research, training and patient care at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. And we have 10,400 event participants, donors and regular donors.
We support this unique partnership and the highest ranked site in the world for eye research and teaching, by raising funds for pioneering research and an enhanced patient experience. We’ve bought state-of-the-art equipment, supported staff wellbeing, and given grants to train tomorrow’s experts.
Along with our partners, we’ve made great progress in realising our ambitious plans for Oriel – the proposed new, state-of-the-art integrated treatment, research and education centre in Kings Cross, opening in 2026.
Over the last year, we’ve seen breakthroughs across many conditions. This impact report focuses on diagnostics and treatments for glaucoma, and Artificial Intelligence projects which could have far-reaching impact.
We’re proud to be funding world class research and training, and supporting patient care with new equipment and innovative services. We can’t thank our supporters enough for giving people a renewed quality of life, not only patients in the UK but around the world.
- Robert Dufton, chief executive, Moorfields Eye Charity
I used to wonder at the end of each day if I’d be able to see in the morning but Moorfields has given me hope, confidence and turned my life around.
