Moorfields Eye Hospital has appointed two consultant ophthalmologists to new clinical leadership roles as part of an ongoing commitment to drive change, increase patient experience and use technology to improve safety standards. Both consultant ophthalmologists, Peter Thomas has been appointed as director of digital innovation and Dawn Sim has been appointed as director of teleophthalmology.
Dawn Sim - director of teleophthalmology
In this role, Dawn will maximise teleophthalmology opportunities, initially piloting a solution, within medical retina in at Moorfields Eye Centre at Croydon University Hospital, before rolling it out across sub-specialities and sites. These changes will be facilitated at the trust before identifying national and global opportunities for deployment. Earlier this year Dawn Sim was awarded the Moorfields Eye Charity Innovation Award for her work in the field of teleophthalmology at the Moorfields Stars award ceremony. We are proud to support Dawn and congratulate her on this new appointment.
Peter Thomas - director of digital innovation
Peter will play a pivotal role within the trust to identify new, innovative technologies which may be swiftly deployed to drive clinical and financial benefits. In this new role, Peter will be an advocate and thought leader for technology and innovation for the trust and will act as the clinical technology lead, providing architecture and technology oversight and guidance. Peter will provide management, coaching and professional guidance to clinicians on technology opportunities which support the establishment and execution of innovative processes and standards deployment.
Congratulations to both Dawn and Peter on their new roles.
