Moorfields consultant ophthalmologist, Dr Mariya Moosajee, and researcher, Dr Pete Jones, will be featuring at The Science Museum Lates event on Wednesday 25 July 2018. Both researchers have been funded by Moorfields Eye Charity and were put forward for this event to present the groundbreaking advances they have made in their areas of research.
Science Museum Lates are adults-only, after-hours theme nights that take place in the museum on the last Wednesday of every month. This month's theme is Medicine and will be a celebration of all things medical, tying in with the 70th anniversary of the NHS.
Dr Pete Jones will be presenting 'Augmented reality simulated sight loss', demonstrating the personalised interactive simulations of eye diseases, using augmented reality and real-time eye tracking.
Dr Mariya Moosajee will be presenting 'Seeing with your skin: how to grow a retina', discussing the pioneering retinal stem cell treatment for eye disease using tactile retinal sculptures created by children from Hazelwood School.
The Lates event runs from 6:45-10pm and admission is free. The event is only open to over 18's.
