Moorfields patient, Marta Clare, has decided it is time to part with her prized collection of antique shawls to raise money for the benefit of the Retinal Therapy Unit (RTU) at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Marta, now aged 90, is an accomplished concert pianist and during her travels across the globe she and her conductor-husband trawled auctions and antique shops in pursuit of the finest shawls. The shawl collection dates from the early 1800’s and have been sourced from Kashmir, Norwich, Edinburgh, Paisley and Paris.
The shawls will be sold at auction, as part of the Kerry Taylor antique and vintage sale on 8 October 2018. Marta will generously gift the proceeds from all auction sales to Moorfields Eye Charity.
