Relaunching Innovation and Improvement grants
Funding new ideas for positive impact
10 January 2024
We are proud to relaunch our Innovation and Improvement grant programme to support the testing of new ideas which will bring about impactful positive change.
Grants aim to optimise or improve clinical practice, service, staff and patient experience or patient participation.
In previous rounds awardees have used these funds to get a wide range of ideas off the ground:
- Sarah Needham installed digital keys in hospital.
- Roxanne Crosby-Nwaobi and Dawn Sim introduced smartphone monitoring of eye health.
- Annegret Dahlmann-Noor led a youth forum to allow young patients to shape paediatric care.
- Anish Jindal assessed community care for glaucoma to determine where improvements could be made.
With the relaunch of this grant programme we’ve taken feedback on board and have widened the budget for grants to £3,000 - £100,000 for up to 18 months. To increase staff capacity, budgets can now include salary costs for sessions or cover. We are keeping the format flexible and will be accepting applications all year round.
Projects will be based at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, either at City Road or another site in the network.
The grants and research team will be holding information and grant writing sessions in the coming months both online and at the network sites.
We are excited to see the innovative new ideas that this programme will attract and supporting Moorfields Eye Hospital staff in putting them into practice.
