Eye to Eye 2023: A walk to remember

On Sunday 5 March 2023, patients, staff, loved ones and researchers came together for a sponsored walk around the historic streets of London. The money they raised will be life-changing for those living with sight loss.
A massive thank you to everyone who took part in Eye to Eye on 5 March and My Eye to Eye over the weekend of 4-5 March!
Over 300 supporters came together at Moorfields Eye Hospital to explore the historic streets of London and help create a future without sight loss.
In total, we managed to raise over £82,000 thanks to all you superstars.

Patients, their friends and family, staff and researchers all walked to support innovations in research, patient-care and training at Moorfields and UCL.
The money you’ve raised will be life-changing for those living with sight loss.

In the morning, we welcomed participants into Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Once they were registered, they had the opportunity to enjoy hot drinks and delicious fresh pastries.
A big thank you to our friends from Starbucks for providing and serving all the hot drinks.
And then they were off! There were people walking in teams, walking solo, walking with their canine companion - it was a wonderful atmosphere and everyone was smiling as they set off into the London streets.
The walkers enjoyed a stroll through Victoria Park and Regents Park, taking a pleasant break at the midway point, which happens to be the upcoming location of Oriel.

The finish line was at our Richard Desmond Children’s Eye Centre where walkers were welcomed with claps, cheers, certificates and medals from our enthusiastic welcome team.
Inside, they put their feet up whilst enjoying a wide array of refreshments including hot soup, cakes and goodies from Starbucks.

My Eye to Eye
We also had a virtual option, My Eye to Eye for those who wanted to fundraise closer to home.
Between 4-5 March, participants could walk, run or ride their 5 or 15 miles from their own doorsteps. 30 people from all around the UK took part.
