Age is just a number for some, but a target for others

Lorraine takes on a new challenge every year, celebrating her fitness and a charity, while bringing the community together to have a big celebration.

Lorraine loves to walk, and last year she raised money for Great Ormond Street, this year Lorraine wanted to raise money for Moorfields Eye Charity. Over the decades, several of her friends and relatives have been affected by glaucoma, cataracts and have had regular diabetic eye check-ups at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Lorraine herself has benefitted from Moorfields over the last 19 years after being diagnosed with ocular degeneration. Thankfully, regular trips to Moorfields has kept her sight steady.

Lorraine has set her challenge and will be walking 82 miles over a seven week period at the astonishing age of 82.

The walks will be split into 25 sessions and each one will take Lorraine from Greenwood road, left into Richmond Road, then right onto Mare Street to Cambridge Health. Right onto Hackney Road. Right onto Queensbridge Road into Richmond Road and finally ending back onto Greenwood Road. This will be 25 walks of 5km each.

Lorraine will do this walk in rain or shine. Please show your support and find the latest updates on her JustGiving page. On Saturday 15 September 2018 Lorraine will be having a celebration with the community in the local park, to watch her cross the finishing line for the last time. Anyone is welcome to come and join in with the celebrations.
