Saturday 23 June to Sunday 22 July 2018
Wherever you choose to host your tea!
Eat, drink and raise money by hosting a tea for Moorfields Eye Charity.
On 5 July 2018, the NHS celebrates its 70th anniversary and Moorfields Eye Charity is joining up with other NHS charities to celebrate the Big7Tea – people all around the country will be hosting tea parties in honour of this magnificent milestone. Our goal is to have at least 70 different tea parties hosted.
We have created our own event: ‘The Moorfields Tea’ and would love patients, staff, supporters and friends of Moorfields Eye Charity to take part by hosting tea parties and in return raise money and awareness for us. It doesn’t have to be a tea party – you can choose whatever meal you like. All you need to do is ask your guests to make a donation instead of a gift, or as an exchange for the cost of the meal. It’s a fun, friendly and easy way to fundraise and support our work to help Moorfields Eye Hospital to discover, develop and deliver the best eye care.
You don’t have to host your event on 5 July – anytime in July is fine. Perhaps you already have something planned that month that you can turn into the Moorfields Tea? Or alternatively why not host a cake sale and raise funds that way? Get your local school, community or business involved – the more the merrier! Follow these three easy steps:
- Step 1 – invite your friends round for tea - and have lots of delicious recipe suggestions, click here.
- Step 2 – host your tea
- Step 3 – ask you guests to donate instead of bringing a gift
Whatever you decide to do, Moorfields Eye Charity will support your fundraising efforts all the way. We will send you recipe ideas, sponsorship forms and collection boxes, as well as items to help decorate your tea table.
- Use our menu cards to help plan your meal.
- Use our cake name cards to help show off your delicious cakes.
- We also have fun selfie props to help capture the moment and share with your friends.

We would also love to hear from you – what’s your story and reason for taking part? Tell us and we will share this on our website and social media channels. And it would be fantastic if you can also share photos from your event.
