Marion Meaney: taking on the Thames Path Challenge
7 January 2020
Marion is a former patient at Moorfields. To mark her 80th birthday, she decided to walk the Thames Path Challenge for Moorfields Eye Charity.
2019 was a big year for Marion. Not only was she retiring from her full time job and about to turn 80, but she also decided to take on the Thames Path Challenge - a 198 mile walk that begins in the heart of Gloucestershire and finishes in Greenwich, London!
Marion chose to take the opportunity to fundraise for Moorfields Eye Charity because of her positive experience as a patient at the hospital.
If it wasn’t for my doctor, I would not have been able to take on this venture.
Marion
Marion’s determination and ambition is remarkable. Donations flooded in when people began to hear about her challenge and, in the end, she raised a phenomenal £2,262!
Marion’s generosity will let Moorfields to continue its work helping people with sight problems.
Thank you, Marion!
