Every 15 minutes someone in the UK starts to lose their sight- we want you to run, ride or walk five miles for Moorfields. How you do your fundraising challenge is up to you as long as government guidelines are followed.
Under current national restrictions, you must exercise in the village, town or area of the city you live in. Please complete your My Eye to Eye challenge where you live, and do so only with the people you live with or those whom you are in a support bubble with. One adult can meet with one other adult outside for exercise but you must remain two metres apart at all times. Please be sure to read and stick to government guidelines at all times. You can read more about these guidelines on the government website here.
Maybe you’ll cycle through the local hills, maybe you and your best mate will set a new personal best running along the beach front or maybe you can power walk five miles whilst the kids scooter alongside you?
I decided to walk Eye to Eye for the first time in 2016 in order to thank Moorfields for the excellent care I had received (by that point I’d had five retinal reattachment operations, three of which were performed at Moorfields), and also because it was something positive I could do in an attempt to help other people affected by sight loss.

Once you have decided on your challenge and have signed up, it’s time to start fundraising! We ask all adult participants to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship. It’s really easy- create a Just Giving fundraising page, then start sharing on your social media and in emails so all your friends and family see what an amazing person you are and your commitment to making a difference to the lives of people living with sight loss. Hit your fundraising target, and we will send you a well earned medal.
For safety reasons, we ask that you do your walk during day light hours and also that you adhere to the latest government guidelines around Covid.
How we can support your fundraising:
We are here to support you every step of the way to make your fundraising a success.
- We will send you a My Eye to Eye t-shirt to wear on the day
- We will email you with guidance on how to plan your walk
- All walkers will have access to our My Eye to Eye Facebook event community where you can chat with other Moorfields supporters and keep up to date with the latest updates and gossip
- You’ll receive emailed newsletters sending you regular motivation and fundraising tips
- We can offer guidance on how to set up your Just Giving fundraising page and how to share it with your loved ones
You can also link a Strava account to your Just Giving page so you automatically share your fitness tracking, training pictures, maps and miles to your fundraising page and show your loved ones how committed you are in the run up to your big day.
Once you have finished your walk, email us a screenshot of your fitness tracker on your phone, and if you have raised £100 in sponsorship, we will send you your My Eye to Eye medal.
Please tag us in any of your social media posts using #TeamMoorfields and #MyEyetoEye and be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram- we will re-share the best ones.
Please be assured your health and safety is paramount to us and we ask that you refer to the latest government guidelines regarding Covid-19 closer to the day. If you have any particular concerns, please get in touch so we can support you to create a safe My Eye to Eye.
